Traveling to the south of Italy in a search of my ancestral roots marked the beginning of my journey of photographing with a sound.
With my mother unable to join me on this travel, I found a unique way to share the experience with her. I captured not only the visual moments with my analog camera but also the sounds of the surroundings. By putting them together, I aimed to make her feel the essence of the places I was going through.
There’s a magic in hearing a sound of a picture without it having to be a video. It invites each viewer to embark on their own imaginative journey, letting their imagination take flight based on the sensory cues.
Since then, I have been documenting the world around me through a duo lens, capturing not only what I see but also what I hear. ‘Still sound’ is an ongoing documentation of the interconnectedness of our senses and endless wonder of the world around us.
